School Daze Week of Sept. 17, 2012 (Instrumental News)

And so it continues....

I would like to start off by recapping the week of Sept. 10. Practice logs have begun, you can view our performance AHS v. Londonderry by clicking on the link in the previous post or clicking the link in your EDLINE.  I will be completing EDLINE grades this week and will send out the my first EDLINE report for Period I and J bands. Jazz Band, your EDLINE grades are up to date.

On Sept. 14, 2012 the AHS Marching Band and Colorguard performed at the home game against Souhegan. This show was very well executed. The music and motion is coming together, and all the little nuances of the show are fitting into place. Tomorrow (Monday Sept. 17) Period I and J bands will be reviewing the AHS v. Souhegan game in preparation of writing their critiques.  Speaking of critiques - the critique for the AHS v. Londonderry performance are due tomorrow as well as practice logs. Remember, there are only 3 weeks left before we perform at the Salem Band Show.

This week will be be reviewing different sets of the show, review some stand tunes and begin with some fundamental music theory concepts. Performance evaluations are on the horizon so make certain that you have your marching band music memorized.

Information for the "official" band photo will be posted sometime this week.

Let's talk a little about fundraising -  How are your pie sales going?  All pie orders are due by the end of school on September 20 - remember that 80% of the profit goes into your student scholarship account for the spring performance trip to Philadelphia as well as preparing for our Disney Trip in 2014.  September 23 is the FOM Speedway clean up -  hopefully you have signed up as this is an easy and very profitable fundraiser.

Parents - Tuesday September 18, 2012 is open house at Alvirne. The music department will have a select jazz combo playing in the cafeteria, I will also be demonstrating SMART music software in the music room. Please stop by and say hello.

I would like to thank Mr. Dave Lecraw a band alum parent and still semi active as our AHS web page person. Mr. Lecraw will be posting the AHS v Souhegan show for your viewing pleasures sometime this week. I will also try to post the video that Mrs. Bastien shot at Friday night's game.

Looking forward to another exciting week!

Mr. B
