School Daze - DAY # 1 August 30, 2011

So, my day started at the hallowed halls of Alvirne at 6:00 a.m. I met with Mr. Daigle for a low fat bran muffin and coffee - needless to say, I can't say anymore:-)
After 15 years you would think I would have my act together, not really. I found out during DE period, I was missing students on my roster oh my, click and paste is not a strong suit of mine!
The shock really came when I was setting up for J Band and found out I didn't have enough chairs! 141 students later, I asked - how will they get their instruments before the 2:09 p.m. bell rings?
This will be a very interesting year - logistically.

OK so what else is going on.

Well, if you looked at the calendar there are a few things happening.
Jazz Band, or students who want to earn Euros for Europe are invited to play at the Nashua CC on September 4th. Only serious jazz band students need apply to Matt for that gig.

Sept.10 the Jazz Band will become the Marching Band as they play for the Candia OHD Parade.
Jazz Band students need to be at AHS by 9:15 a.m. to get dressed and load the equipment on the bus. My plan is to leave by 9:50 a.m. and arrive at the staging area in Candia by 10:30 a.m. The parade steps off at 11:00 a.m. we should be back to AHS by 12:30 p.m. the latest.

Sept. 11 - The entire AHS Bronco Marching Band and Colorguard as well as the B Naturals will perform for the 9/11 Commmerative Event. Students will need to arrive at AHS by 12:15 p.m. and be ready to board the busses by 1:10 p.m. The Commerative Event will be from 2:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m. We will be returning to AHS no later than 4:00 p.m.
Parents, please show your support, not only for the band but for the Town of Hudson on this very special day. I cannot begin to tell you how proud I am to be part of the festivities. God Bless America, and especially Hudson. (I know, I'm not politically correct - oh well! it's me - Mr. B)

Sept. 17 is the Jazz Band Car Wash from 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m please, come by and support our students. They are earning this trip to perform in Paris and Munich - no free ride!

Parents and students don't forget we have the Speedway Clean up on the 24th - sign up and help defray the cost of the music department trip in 2012 to.......(that information is coming later).

OK, Mrs. B is telling me to "shut down the computer and come spend some quality time" so, when the boss calls I listen :-)

One final note (no pun intended) tomorrow we will have our first field show rehearsal from 6-8:30 p.m.

Ciao-
Mr. B
