OK,I'm going to try this again! You are asking what is Mr. B saying...well I started to write my blog and hit something and there was my blog GONE and no way to retrieve it! I figured I better write tonight before IRENE gets the better of us.
Anyway, the week started with me working on getting prepared for the school year - setting up class list, attending meetings, running dept. meetings, doing orders, putting out fires, answering emails and phone calls etc. I can honestly tell you that I am so far behind that I'm in first place. Hopefully, my battery pack in the PC won't die and I'll be able to get some work done tomorrow, if not I'll put my feet up and read a good book by the candle light. If it was good enough for Ben Franklin it's good enough for me.
Wednesday (24) was a Band Show refresher day. The students that did attend (hint, hint) were able to work on fine tuning their sets, and work on fundamentals. It's very difficult to rehearse when there are a lot of students missing. My bumper sticker reads: "Band, no one rides the pine!" It's extremely important that everyone show to rehearsals as EVERYONE plays!
Today, was the Allenstown/Pembroke OHD parade. Again, I must compliment those students who attended and represented Alvirne so wonderfully. The parade went rather quickly, we stepped off at 10:00 a.m. and everyone was on their way back home by 12:15 p.m. A special thanks to all our FOM volunteers for making this event seamless. I would say the Allenstown/Pembroke Parade was a complete success.
I do have a few reminders for the upcoming week:
Monday - Incoming Freshman orientation is from 9-noon. Freshman I will hand out a NEW UPDATED SCHEDULE please use your favorite magnet to hang it on the refrigerator.
Tuesday - is the beginning of school. Jazz Band we are going to PLAY - BE READY! I will also discuss some of our upcoming performance dates.
Wednesday - We are back into the swing of things. Band & Colorguard don't forget we have our first field show practice that evening. The focus will be all 3 tunes especially Final Countdown we will be going from sets 40-43 and learning how to get on and off the field. I will also be focusing on the pass throughs with proper shifting.
Thursday Night is EXTREMELY important for parents. It is open house. PLEASE, parents make an effort to attend as I will have a couple of hand outs and some very important information about our Sept. 11 performance as well as our October 1 performance at Gillette stadium.
Remember to visit AHSMUSIC.ORG frequently for updates, great photos of our performances and also video clips. I have also included in this blog a NEW and IMPROVED calendar for everyone. This means take all the other calendars you have received and recycle them this is the ONE and ONLY!
