Dear Parents, Band, and Jazz Band Students,
The annual band trip has been approved by the school board! Did you see me on local access this past Monday October 4, 2010? The trip is scheduled for April 15-18, 2011 - our destination is New York City. In New York City we will be experiencing the challenge and reward of the Rhythms International Festival Competition and will have an opportunity to experience the Big Apple. The following is a very preliminary itinerary.
Friday, April 15
- Leave Alvirne approx 12:30 PM
- Dinner at or near hotel in NJ
- Bowling or similar activity
- Full buffet breakfast at hotel
- Bus tour of Manhattan
- Lunch in or near Times Square
- Visit Top of the Rock and NBC studios
- Shopping in Times Square as time permits
- Dinner in or near Times Square
- Broadway show (evening performance)
- Full buffet breakfast at hotel
- Performances and adjudication at Rhythms International Festival NJ venue
- Lunch at or near performance venue
- Awards banquet dinner/dance in evening
- Full buffet breakfast at hotel
- Visit Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island
- Buffet lunch on the way home
Remember, there are many opportunities to earn monies through fundraising. A monthly statement will be issued indicating the status of your student’s trip scholarship account. If there is a financial need please do not hesitate to contact the music department office. Discussion between director, parents and student are confidential.

It is also understood that all additional monies paid or earned are forfeited if notice of non-participation is not given by the December 20, 2010 installment.

I/we also understand that as a trip chaperone I/we are obligated to participate in “helping out” with various Music Department and/or Friends of Music events this school year.
