Welcome to Mr. B’s
Blog Post for the 2013-2014 school year!
The first week of school has come and gone. Syllabi for all
music courses have been handed out and expectations have been set. Last Wednesday night’s rehearsal proved to be
very productive as we were able to review sets 1-36. The marching show performance at our first
game (AHS v. Timberlane) was successful as no one fell or crashed into one anotherJ
The FOM meeting on Thursday (Sept. 6) was informative and
the celebration of our EXTREME makeover of the music room was well received.
This week, practice logs and the ensemble critique of our
AHS v. Timberlane performance will be distributed. Sectional calendars will
also be handed out. I will be working on the Period I and J band’s EDline
pages. Once those pages are up and running students will be able to retrieve
their assignments digitally. Tomorrow we will critique our performance in class
and Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday the focus will be on “fine tuning” James Bond Theme, For Your Eyes Only and
Gold Finger. We will re learn sets 37-51 in preparation of performing
Die Another Day, Live and Let Die as well as the James Bond reprise.
Our next marching band performance will be this Thursday
(Sept. 12) as Nashua
v. Alvirne at Stellos Stadium. Students will need to report to Alvirne by 5:00
p.m. We will be boarding busses and leaving Alvirne by 6:00 p.m. Parents, please make certain that your band
and/or colorguard student has money as I will be giving the performers the 3rd
quarter off so that they may purchase food from the concession stand at
Stellos.
The Disney travel list will be finalized on Monday September
16, 2013 so if you have not submitted your initial deposit that was due in August
please do not hesitate.
The next Disney payment of $150.00 is due by September 25,
2013.
Please visit ahsmusic.org frequently for updates, pictures
and pertinent information with regards to the Alvirne High School Music
programs Band and Choral. We also have a GREAT Facebook page Alvirne High
School Friends of Music that is very imformative.
Students are encouraged to view The Alvirne High School
Marching Band and Colorguard Facebook page. This is a closed facebook page and
is only for information.
Have a wonderful week, hopefully we’ll see all our band and
colorguard parents at Stellos Stadium this Thursday evening supporting our AHS
Marching Band and Colorguard performance.
Regards,
Mr. B
